Why the change?
As we took an in-depth look at our business this winter, we realized again that every step of the way, we have chosen quality. The quality of life for our land, the cows and the milk. For example, we feed our cows only grass and no grain, we are careful to not overgraze our fields, we allow the babies to be with their moms (and drink up all that good milk!), and we package in glass containers. All of these are decisions in alignment with our vision and values and create the noticeable quality of our final product.
However, this way of doing things has made it very difficult for us to create a profit margin, and therefore sustain ourselves in this work and life. Our new marketing strategy will enable us to continue on as Fiddle Creek Dairy. (For more details see our April 28 blog post “D2C” ).
We realize that picking up yoghurt and other products at Fiddle Creek Dairy Farm, or a farmer’s market may not be as convenient as running to a nearby grocery store. Our products have a very long shelf life so we are hoping that you can stock up to make things easier. We will also be collaborating with other farmers to provide you with a wider variety of products when you stop by our farm. Yoghurt will continue to be available at stores in Lancaster county locations as well. To keep updated with the changes occurring, sign up for our newsletter.
